What John Frame Discovered (About Knowledge)
“Frame’s epistemology is thoroughly triperspectival. By my lights, he has discovered* something that epistemology has flirted with for years—the threefold nature of knowledge. Even the historic definition of knowledge used by philosophers, viz. “justified true belief,” smacks of triperspectivalism.”
Since writing The Doctrine Shapes the Defense, I’ve been told that it was actually Vern Poythress who first developed triperspectivalism. So who was it really? I don’t have a conclusive answer to that question, yet, so I’m leaving this quote as is, for now. —JS
