Welcome to the Think Podcast, the show where we tackle impossible questions from a biblical perspective, to help you explain, share and defend the Christian message.

This is the Monday Minute.

Why Does Science Work?

Why does science "work?" Neil DeGrasse Tyson is an astrophysicist—and a notorious skeptic. He hosts the show, "Cosmos," he's been on Joe Rogan's podcast, and he debunks sci-fi movies on Twitter.

Tyson has said, “That’s the good thing about science: It’s true whether or not you believe in it. That’s why it works.”

Science does work—but could it work without God? To "work," science needs regularity in the unchanging, universal laws of logic and math, consistency in the physical world, and reliability in human senses and reasoning.

The Bible tells why science works: God upholds the world consistently and logically; He created man rational and encourages us to search the cosmos for knowledge (see Genesis 1:27; Psalm 19; Colossians 1:17; the whole book of Proverbs).

Without God, why believe that logic, math, the world, or our senses remain consistent—or aid us in producing true belief? Blind faith?

Science "works"—but it takes the biblical worldview to explain why.

Now this is not good-bye. It’s just been a little pit stop along the way of your spiritual journey.
