How to Reach a World That No Longer Views Christianity As A "Good" Thing, with Aaron Renn

Jesus told the church to make disciples of all the nations. And for a long time in our nation, spreading the truth of the Bible and Christian teaching was easier than it is now, because being a Christian was mainly seen as a positive thing by our society. However, in recent years our nation has changed and no longer views Christianity in a positive light. This means that  If we stick to old methods, they won't work, we won't reach the world, and we'll grow increasingly frustrated. It’s time to take an honest look at the situation facing us and rethink how we interact with a world that now views our Christian faith with suspicion.

This is (the newly renamed) Worldview Legacy, the show that helps Christian men become the worldview leaders their families and churches need.

My name is Joel Settecase, and my mission is to help YOU  to build a legacy, where you, your kids and wife will be able to confidently articulate the answers to the questions the world is asking, from the Bible, and you will see Jesus change lives as you share your faith.

Today’s episode is not only going to help prepare you to share and defend our faith yourselves, but will also set you up to pass on the faith to the younger generation so they can build God’s kingdom in the future and not miss anything God has called them to in the years to come.

My guest today is Aaron Renn. Aaron has discovered a three-part paradigm for understanding the relationship between Christianity and the culture, from the 1960s until now. He says that we’ve gone through three or "worlds," and that we are now in the third world. This paradigm has been incredibly helpful to countless Christians, for understanding our times and how to live in them as Christians.

If you've ever felt like the odd man out because of your Christian faith, then you’re going to want to hear what Aaron has to say.

Questions we'll answer today include:

  • What are the three stages that the culture has passed through, in terms of its relationship to the church, and which one are we in now?

  • How exactly should we interact with a world that views Christian faith as a negative thing, and which of our methods aren't working anymore?

  • How can taking the long view—even a multigenerational view—be the best way for men to have hope in the face of a less Christian culture and even a less biblical church?

  • What are the first steps toward revival today?

  • How can you build mental toughness and adjust your risk exposure to fit the current situation?

  • What is one positive aspect of living in a "negative world?"
