Apologetics Foundations

Course Overview

Why Should You Study Apologetics?

Here are three ways that studying apologetics benefits you:

  1. It prepares you for the world. You and your family have been inundated with conflicting, unbiblical messages from all sides. Apologetics helps you think clearly and interact well with a largely non-Christian world.

  2. It encourages you to evangelize. We all worry that someone will ask a question we can't answer. Apologetics equips you to answer the world's questions, so you and your family can evangelize with more confidence.

  3. It helps you overcome doubts. Has a child ever asked you, "How do we know all this stuff is really true?" Questions like this are inevitable, and now is the time to learn how to answer them with biblical truth.

What Will You Learn?

This course will equip you to answer challenges to the Christian worldview with confidence. You will study the foundational principles of a robust, biblical defense of the Christian faith, as well as a three-step, biblically-based method for answering every objection.

The course consists of eight sessions:

  1. The Biblical Basis for Apologetics

  2. Everyone Knows God

  3. There Is No Neutrality

  4. Beware Arbitrary Claims

  5. Watch Out for Worldview Theft

  6. Reduce the Non-Christian Position to Absurdity

  7. Make a Positive Case for Christianity

  8. Make an Evangelistic Appeal

Our Origin Story

The Think Institute was born from Joel and Aliza Settecase's missionary work with Cru (Church Movements).

As a former pastor in Chicago, Joel recognized the urgent need for reliable training and resources to help everyday believers confidently articulate and defend the truth of the Christian worldview. In 2018, Joel and Aliza joined Cru, eager to equip churches in this crucial area.

Amid personal challenges confronting the Settecase family, in 2019 they launched the first podcast and conducted trainings at several Chicago churches.

Despite the challenges of 2020 and 2021, including the impact of Covid, the Lord continued to bless the ministry. They built the thriving ThinkSquad community, taught online courses, and introduced apologetics training to homeschool co-ops in fall 2021.

In 2022, Cru “sent” the Settecases out, and they founded The Think Institute as an independent nonprofit ministry.

By God's grace, The Think Institute is now impacting countless believers and their families, as well as dozens of organizations, including schools, ministries, and local churches.

Through our various initiatives, programs and online community, we are currently reaching a monthly audience of about 19,000 individuals.
